Our beautiful, talented youngest daughter’s wedding took place in August 2015.
The challenge that had come my way was to be creative and come up with a stunning ring cushion.
The theme: succulents, and the colour scheme: the colourful lilac-breasted roller, a bird that is indigenous to the South African Bushveld.
The ensuing labour of love took me on a journey of creativity with basic embroidery stitches, picking up on the shapes of the different succulents that we used in the bridal bouquet, table decorations, the oasis balls and the chuppah. Jamie, her youngest nephew, had his birthday on the wedding day and had the honour of being the ring bearer – a charming 5 year-old young man dressed in camel coloured trousers and a navy jacket.
