Alet Gardner

Hi there! I am an South African expat, living in the lovely Kent countryside in the UK.
I love everything meaningful and beautiful - so I try my hand at photography, painting, embroidery, needlework, cooking and writing.

My inspiration for all of this: the people that I love,
and the love that God has for me.

A year's worth of mini paintings

I started on my birthday, 9 February 2016, with a challenge to produce one miniature painting per day for a year...

A labour of love

Our beautiful, talented youngest daughter’s wedding took place in August 2015.

The challenge that had come my way was to be creative and come up with a stunning ring cushion.

Exercise and fitness

I often find that I work really hard to look good outwardly – working out at the gym regularly, dressing properly in order to make a good impression. But I so easily forget that God isn’t blinded by my manners or impressed by my correct conversations because He knows that the not so healthy thoughts that I foster in my heart WILL some or other time pop out of my mouth, or even explode into inexplicable actions.

On the receiving end…

When I go through life tagging along my emotional baggage neatly stuffed into a hip “trolley suitcase”, I will find it very hard to trust God.

Green risotto

When baking, one should follow the recipe to the T – and I do that. But, when making risotto, I tend to hop along happily, improvising, tasting, adapting and … enjoying.

So, here is my secret recipe:

Grace

Mark Yaconelli says: Like an orphan, our prayer often waits to be noticed and held within our anger, our depression, our loneliness, and unmet longing. These broken places within us are irresistible to God, Why not place your hand over your heart and ask, “Heart, what is your prayer?” Then, without judgement, listen.

Lizette

Zettie – we share a few very special experiences, one of the nice ones an adventure in Crete. What fun to be wife and mum on top of being an accomplished professional woman and an inspiring friend for many.

Elréza

I am privileged to have a funky kick-boxing, song-writing, science teaching young friend who inspires me to question my own motives and to live life fully.
